Title: Exam Review

Lesson Overview
This lesson is to review the material that has been covered in order for the students to better prepare for the exam. The review game will allow students to know which topics they are having difficulty with and which topics they are not and be able to focus their studying accordingly.

Objectives: Students will be able to…
  • Actively participate in the review of the content previously covered.
  • Determine the content they are having difficulty with and devise a study plan.

Opening
I will start this lesson by passing out the quizzes; this will also serve as taking attendance. I will then tell the students that we will be playing a review game. Depending on the class size, the students will be broken up into 5 – 6 groups of between 4-5 students. I will go over the instructions of the game, which are, I will ask group 1 a question, they have 30 sec to talk about the answer. After the 30 sec they will say what they came up with for an answer. If they are correct, I will press the spin button on the power point and the group gets the amount of points shown. If they get it wrong the next group gets 20 sec to come up with an answer. If they get it right they get to spin, if not the next group gets 10sec, etc. When the question is answered then another question is asked. The group with the most points at the end of the game wins and the members will each be allowed to pick out a prize.

Learning Activities
The review game will continue for most of the class. To ensure that all students are participating, a different person needs to answer for the group for every question. I will also encourage students to make notes regarding questions they were stuck on, which will help them remember some areas they may need to concentrate on during their studying.

Closing
I will end the game with about 10-15mins left in the period. I will then ask if anyone has any specific questions or concerns that were not addressed in the review game. I will address any questions that arise. I will then hand out a copy of the questions and their answers which can then be used as another study resource. I will then reiterate that they have an exam the next time we meet and to use the review sheet they have, their notes, the questions from the review game, and any other resources they have to prepare for the exam.

Assessment
The review game is acting as the assessment for this lesson. It will help me determine what topics the students are still having difficulty on and also what areas they are comfortable with.

Their homework for this lesson is to study for the exam
